This is the busiest time of year for tax accountants. The more successful they are, the busier they are. If you’ve seen one lately, you know what they can look like this time of year: tired, a little frazzled, the walking definition of busy.
I have one client, a tax accountant, who learned a few years ago that her commitment to her workouts, her body, herself, was just as important during this very busy time as other parts of the year.
These workouts help her physically AND MENTALLY feel good! She’s limber. Her neck and shoulder kinks are smaller and very temporary. She’s able to work more efficiently (and accurately!), sleeps better, and eats healthier.
Because she has experienced the benefits of training even when (especially when) she’s busy, she continues to train inside circumstances that might break the best of us.
I shared her story with another client who had just confirmed she had her best year in business (this she knew because her taxes were complete). She was inspired by my tax-accountant client’s story and added that she’d almost canceled that day’s Pilates training session with me because she was so busy.
Busy is busy; committed is committed. You can be both at the same time. The commitment really is about taking care of yourself so you’re able to effectively help others.
MOTHERS: LISTEN UP! This message is for a lot of people, but especially you. Making a commitment to yourself, and keeping it, directly affects your self-esteem and energy.
The better your feel about yourself because of healthy habits, the more productive you will be. You’ll also have a more positive attitude.
The vicious cycle you may be in could be reversed. Taking care of yourself by consistently committing to your health will feed your desire to stick to it regardless of circumstances.
Let my tax accountant story be the last one that makes you think you “should” be investing in yourself. Carve out the time. You’ll become more effective and have more energy. It won’t be long before you’re sticking to your training program even when life feels like it’s tax time in accountant land.
